A day I dreaded saying goodbye to my father and had a lot of anxiety about. I can’t thank Jo and Martin enough for the care, support and compassion they gave me, my nan and family. The Funeral was done so beautifully and was so very meaningful. The attention to detail was outstanding and the respect they showed to us all was truly remarkable. All of my family and friends who attended commented on how beautiful the service was and the send off my father had will always leave a mark on my heart. Jo and Martin are such kind genuine people who go above and beyond thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My mother in law passed away in Leicester while spending some time with her youngest daughter there. As she wished to be buried with her late husband in Caldicot we were concerned as to how we could make this happen.
Having looked online for Caldicot funeral directors and reading reviews, one firm stood out above all others.
My husband contacted them, and from that first moment we knew they were the right one to see my Mother in law to her final resting place.
I sometimes take reviews with a pinch of salt, but every single bit of praise in any review you may read about them is well deserved.
Jo came to my late Mother in laws bungalow to discuss everything with myself, my husband and his two sisters.
What could have been a tense time turned out to be a very relaxed one, and so much help was offered by Jo. Everything was carefully explained, and we were told to ring any time we had questions.
Jo explained that they would sort bringing my Mother in law home to Wales and kept us informed throughout.
Nothing was too much trouble for her, even to offering advice about where we could hire a hall and a caterer for refreshments after the funeral.
Jo also sorted the flowers for us again taking pressure of of us.
On the day of the funeral the service provided was phenomenal, My Mother in laws elderly brother who has difficulty walking and getting into a car was carefully aided by Martin a few times and who also made sure he was alright at the graveside while he said goodbye to his sister.
I will never be able to thank Jo, Martin and staff enough for ensuring everything went so well.
Such a professional caring firm from day one. I have no hesitation recommending them to anyone

Even though having never used Ian Watts & Son in a professional capacity Jo Hume is a very dear friend of mine (and of my mother) and I know her to be a very kind and caring person.
When my mother passed away on the 23rd June it was a very easy decision for myself and my sisters to ask Jo and Martin to organise her funeral.
What will stay in my mind is the kindness and compassion shown not only to my family at a terrible time in our lives, but most importantly the respect shown to my mother.
Nothing was too much trouble and I believe that the personal touch is what makes Jo & Martin exceptional in what they do.
My mother adored owls and they went the extra mile of providing us with owl brooches / badges and even wore them themselves in a mark of respect to my mother.
The respect that Martin showed to my mother and my family was incredible, the family car picked up myself and my sisters at three separate locations and on each stop Martin walked in front of the hearse and even stopped outside my mothers home for a couple of minutes for us.
Not once did we feel that we were rushed and indeed at the crematorium he advised us we could stay as long as we needed to.
Jo arranged, with our agreement, for Preben Anderson to carry out the service, who was also exceptional. It was a beautiful service made even more special to us in that he made it all about my mother and her relationship with us, her family.
He also allowed the congregation time to listen in full to our chosen music so that everyone could appreciate the words and even gave some facts about owls that were totally in keeping with the respect he also showed to my mother. In fact everyone we spoke to afterwards said that it was a lovely service.
Whilst I appreciate that it must have been difficult for Jo as she cared deeply for my mother, she was professional at all times. From the moment that she took my mother into her care I knew she would be in safe hands. Jo also did a couple of readings for us in the service which were done with poise and elegance.
I truly believe that my mother would be so proud of us for the service we gave her and we could not have done that without Jo and Martin.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Ian Watts & Son to anyone who finds themselves in the unfortunate event of having to arrange a funeral.

Jo is very compassionate nothing is too much trouble. Jo also goes that extra mile with her personal touches. My mother was a huge fan of owl ornaments, Jo got owl badges/tie pins for us to wear. Since meeting with Jo I am proud and honoured to call her a dear friend. We were introduced to Reverend Preben Anderson, he did a lovely service also a big thank you to Martin & son too. Thank you.

An absolutely outstanding service received from Ian Watts & Sons. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Their caring, compassionate & personal service really shone through from the moment we made the first call.
Nothing was ever too much trouble and even when I emailed Jo at 11pm on Saturday night because I had a question that was playing on my mind I got a response within minutes- just brilliant.
Our first meeting with Jo was so relaxed, we were not rushed in any way and the guidance/suggestions she gave us were really helpful. My Nan was worried before the meeting, to the point where she didn't want to be in the room, however, Jo made her feel at ease within minutes and within no time we were all sharing fantastic memories of Walter. My Nan cannot sing your praises enough Jo :)
Ian Watts & Sons made a really difficult situation for my Nan that little bit easier and for that we are very thankful.

Ian Watts and the team handled my step fathers funeral. From the initial contact, to the advising of his passing, the actual service and now post contact and service is nothing short of Phenominal.
I have been to many funerals for family and friends young and old, and can honestly say, the honest compassion before during and after is incredible. Jo, Martin and the team provided a service that truly meant a celebration of life was achieved and the Forest of Dean location added to the day. At he end of the service day, family and friends said it was a great day despite the reason for being together.
At sad times as a funeral will be, rest assured this is one decision you should make.

The moment I met Jo I felt like I`d made a friend and it was obvious that she had mine and my families interests at heart right from the very start. She made us feel so comfortable throughout the whole process of organising my mother`s funeral, because she is such a compassionate and caring person and nothing is too much trouble for her. Jo always put us first and went above and beyond the call of duty on many occasions just to make sure every little detail was correct and exactly how we wanted it. To say Jo and Martin are caring and professional is simply not enough, because they are that and so much more. Their attention to detail is second to none and their pride in what they do is so reassuring and inspiring. Would I recommend them? Well I`ll be going to them myself when my time comes, so that says it all really.

Excellent outstanding service from beginning to end. My lovely mum sadly passed away in December 2016. From start to finish Jo has been amazing. Very supportive of the family's requirements. Meeting Jo for the first time allayed all the fears I may have had when dealing with my late mothers funeral. She was respectful and compassionate and nothing was too much trouble for her to sort out. On the day we met Martin Watts who carried out his duties in the same manner never rushing us and again conducting himself in a dignified and efficient manner. I'm not sure where to begin in explaining how caring and professional this company were in all aspects of planning and carrying out my brothers funeral. The compassion shown can only come from the heart and Jo Hume and Martin Watts must indeed have big hearts because the compassion was beyond their call of duty. I met Joanne on a visit to the caldicot funeral palour. Joanne made me feel relaxed and gave plenty of time for me to ask questions during her detailed explanation of the bespoke funeral plan quote I asked for. The palour was nicely decorated and felt safe and welcoming. Once I recieved my bespoke funeral plan quote I was pleasantly surprised by the price and will be pirchasing it ahortly .Ten out of Ten for this service

After my parents passing 3yrs ago my wife and I realised how vital it is to have everything in place. So we booked an appointment with Joanne. We were made to feel at home and very comfortable. Her understanding and delivery of the funeral plan was second to none in my eyes. We told her what WE wanted and Joanne gave us avery good quote. I would recommend Ian Watts and sons to every one. Death isnot an easy subject to talk about when its yours, but i t was with them.

Everything which was asked for was executed with great tact and diplomacy, we could not have asked for a better send off for our Caldicot relative , Mr C Kirby. Martin and Joe at Ian and watts have the highest level of proffesinlisime there is ! Nothing was a problem with Martin he went that extra mile from the planning to the day of the funeral , Martin and joe where 24/7 and where more than happy to answer calls and answer any questions etc at anytime of the day which is a lovely touch , Martin was so organised through out the whole time from organising till the day of the funeral , even the vicor said how organised Martin was as the vicor usually had to email back and forward asking questions but Martin emailed the vicor with everything he needed to know we weren't the only ones impressed with martins service , not one minute we doubted Martin . Martin made the very hard time for us easy and simple .on the day of the funeral martin walked in front of the herse going to church coming out and going to the crem it was such a beatiful touch to the sad day , Martin even held umbrellas over people who weren't under the shelter when it rained and walked us to the cars with umbrellas over us so we weren't in the rain all these little things made it so special !! And even though we have had the funeral Martin and joe said if we ever need anything or need to chat about how we are coping to ring , martin and his team especially joe are amazing they have so much care for you and your loved one who has passed , nothing is an effort with them . We are so happy that we used them , I highly recommend them !! You won't get another service like martins anywhere else .
