No amount of superlatives adequately express our appreciation of the funeral arrangements provided by Lilian Hough and her team.They are simply the best and provide a five star service.
Lilian takes great pride in delivering a caring, personalised and professional service. She provides clear leadership and sets high standards for her whole team. Her years of experience and expertise shone through at every stage of our making the arrangements for our mother’s cremation.
On very first contact she establishes immediate rapport, empathy and your confidence. For us this was done at a time of sudden loss, at a distance and amidst the global pandemic. Arrangements during lock-downs required special consideration. Lilian was able to advise on every aspect and provided everything to exacting high standards. She additionally offered exceptional value for money and ensured every detail we had discussed was delivered on the day. This included arranging beautiful flowers, professionally printed service sheets and our very personal choices for the eulogy and the music played at the service.
A year on, we have recently finally interred our mother’s ashes in our family grave. This was again arranged through Lilian to the same high standards with dignity and sensitivity. She even anticipated the need to organise wheelchair access by providing boarding to the graveside at the cemetery.
We cannot praise and her, Lee and their team too highly. She will always be our first choice if ever needed again. She is a credit to her profession.

Lillian Hough has been the most caring compassionate funeral director that I know. She Dealt with my own Mums funeral in 2011 and from then on I wouldn't use anyone else.
we sadly in the last year have lost both my father in law and mother in law, most recently on the 16th June was my mother in law.
as usual Lillian and her staff were absolutely brilliant, and looked after us compassionately and treated my mother in law with dignity and respect.
I can't thank Lillian and her team enough for what she has done for us.

We requested the Funeral Services of Lillian Hough when our appointed Funeral Director failed to meet their professional and ethical responsibilities.
At the point of my initial contact with Lillian I was extremely distressed but from that initial conversation she reassured me and said “I will make sure your mum gets the Funeral she deserves” Without going into the details surrounding the previous funeral director I can only say that is exactly what I needed to hear and all I ever wanted.
From that point on I was kept up to date with everything that was happening and when something was scheduled to take place it did. Lillian is a very caring person and I really benefitted from that care and support, she certainly went a long way in restoring my faith after my initial experiences.
Lillian Hough Funeral Services is totally professional and operates to very high standards. From your first point of contact you are given a warm welcome and provided with the confidence that your loved one is in good hands. My mum was treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Lillian’s attention to detail is second to none and she takes the time to really understand what it is you want and supports you all the way in getting it.
On the day of my mums funeral I was totally confident that everything would go to plan and that was all down to the individualised service that Lillian provides. The care and support myself and my wife had experienced was extended to my wider family and everyone commented on Lillian’s professionalism and attention to detail on the day.
I cannot recommend Lillian Hough’s Funeral Service enough and I cannot thank Lillian enough for everything she did for me and my family but most importantly for giving my mum what she initially promised and that was “the funeral she deserved”

I was shocked to be told that Lillian Hough in Dukinfield had been badly insulted and publicly humiliated on here by someone. With the intent of disgracing her name and ruining her business. Apparently the complainant stated that she was totally in the wrong job and not suited to her profession. Well that person can't possibly be talking about the same Lillian Hough I know, who I might add is very highly respected amongst all my family and friends... I can truly say and state out loud in this MY PERSONAL POST that Lillian Hough is the most kindest, caring, thoughtful and considerate lady that I have ever had the privilege of meeting. We lost our precious daughter tragically at the age of 28yrs old. Our whole world as u can imagine crashed down all around us. We chose Lillian Hough for her funeral and upon our first time of meeting to discuss all the arrangements for our daughter's funeral, Lillian was nothing other than kind and helpful to us. She certainly did show her inner self truthful feelings towards us and supported our every wish and carried it through without any hesitation at all. I myself got into a state and wanted to ask her question after question and expected to be looked in the eye and be told the truth whether I would like it or not and that's what she really did. She laid things on the line and told it as it was and it wasn't rude or blunt and never once refused anything I asked. I couldn't have asked for a more understanding person as Lillian was. She's a wonderful lady. Nothing is too much trouble for her even if she has to go out of her way to please and help to give you the satisfaction and comfort needed at the time of your loss. She is completely and utterly devoted to her job and is an outstanding professional at everything that her job requires. How any one person could possibly say the complete opposite of her I can't and never will be able to understand. Thank you Lillian.

Whilst experiencing the sudden loss of our beautiful mother, myself and my siblings we're at loose ends and the thought of arranging her funeral was very daunting. I'm a firm believer of word of mouth being the best form of advertisement, and thankfully all the encouraging words we heard on Lillians behalf were to be only a snippet to this ladies being. Her loving, mothering nature were obvious within 10 seconds of our introduction and her careful, genuine professionalism allowed my family to concentrate on what we were coming to terms with and eliminate the reality of what we had to organise. We literally just had to confirm the basic personal touches required for the day and Lillian and her team continued to do what come natural to them. My personal favourite characteristic Lillian is blessed with is her patience. We were able to organise and visit at short notice and was never once under the illusion that we might be out staying our welcome, which re iterates Lillians service, allow Lillian to care for and organise your loved ones during this heart breaking time, and you concentrate on what is really important and mourn the loss. No need for extra stresses. It appears to me rival companies will stoop as low as criticising Lillians dedication on a page like this. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement. Lillian is a breath of fresh air and a gift waiting to be unwrapped. Thank you with all my heart .

I would not have entrusted her into anyone else's care but Lillian's from the first telephone call I made until my aunties funeral day Lillian was extremely caring respectful and carried out all of our wishes with dignity as always. Lillian was chosen by my family to assist with Dads funeral, I live in Australia and was delighted with who they chose. We are an extremely large family eight adult children in all and I am sure we all wanted to make sure the service we gave Dad was special , and it was !! Lillian was Amazing , she covered everything from the process and gave advice on practical issues too. My mum Barbara decided on a two horse carriage with Red plumes , United colours of course , apparently they had never been asked for red before , we was advised that if it was raining it might not be possible for the horses to perform for safety reasons. So it was fitting that on the day we had no rain, Dads send off was beautiful, his coffin looked lovely in the carriage, our Mum was delighted at how lovely the flowers was and Dad was given the best send off , all the family was impressed at how dignified it was and the lovely hug Lillian gave mum meant a lot to us all. Thankyou , you made a very traumatic day go smoothly , forever grateful Elaine

Special requests, such as specific plume colour for the horses, were arranged at short notice with diligence and compassion.

She talked us through the whole process from what kind of service to cars or horse and cart, flowers, songs ect very reassuring lovely gave us hugs wonderful lady no rush for payment overall fantastic service the only company I would recommend, My Dad funeral was on the 10/3/16 we could not have give my Dad (Albert) a better send off. Lillian Hough did my Father's funeral several years ago. Initially, she visited myself to proceed with her correlation of relevant parties and to arrange funeral details. Lillian was knowledgeable, resourceful and autonomous, which put me at ease straight away. On a personal level she was empathetic, friendly and respectful. From start to finish Liilian was first class, as at a time when you need a shoulder to cry on , and are at your lowest point.
She talked us through the whole process and then guided us along the way, always with her caring understanding sincere nature.
Cant believe she was half the price of other funeral directors for what should be the same service. However I am so very glad we picked Lillian.

I found Lillian Hough to be none of the negative comments above, couldn't be further from the truth. We lost our only daughter aged 23, at that time Lillian was a shoulder to cry on, she helped us get through the hardest time of our lives. She was very caring and considerate and couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble for her. She helped ease our pain a lot and we consider her a very thoughtful and professional lady. We couldn't of got through it without her. Highly recommended and will always recommend her to friends and family. Keep up the good work Lillian, your the best x

I completely disagree with the negative reviews above. They clearly haven't personally dealt with Lillian at all. She has done several close members of my family over the years so when my son sadly died in 2009 I went to her. Her professionalism and dedication is what defines her and makes her a cut above the other funeral directors. The lowest, saddest and darkest period of my life was made that little bit easier by Lillian's compassion. I knew I could rest that bit better knowing one of the most precious things to me was in her care for his last journey. I recommend Lillian to everyone and so do all my family - nobody has ever complained as a result of those recommends and they have always gone back to her for other funerals. Keep up the good work Lillian.

I have sadly lost many family and friends and of all the funerals I have attended I can say with absolute certainty that Lillian's have been the most professional. Two of those funerals were for my grandma and grandad, of course a very hard time for me and my family. A time made a little easier thanks to Lillian. Lillian clearly runs a tight ship which shows in the seamlessness of the funerals but this in no way compromises the compassion shown by Lillian and her staff. From the start of the process right through until the end Lillian exceeded my expectations and proved why she is considered by many, to be the best of the best. I would never go to anyone else as Lillian is the only person I trust to give my loved ones the kindness and respect they deserve in their last days with us. A five star service.

yesterday i attended my Aunty's funeral organised by Lillian Hough. This woman was rude, cold, gruff & totally uncompassionate & insensitive towards my Aunty's family & all of us in the funeral party.
Disgusting behaviour - she is in the wrong business!
