I have no hesitation in recommending Whittaker-Wood funeral directors. When my father passed away I was less than impressed with certain aspects of the service provided by a local funeral director, having read the testimonials for Whittaker-Wood I commissioned them to manage the funeral of my mother. I have to say that said testimonials are fully merited. The service provided was truly excellent, managed throughout by the meticulous Malcolm. Every detail was handled by him with the objective of achieving a stress-free service to the family and the fitting funeral that we had in mind. His attention to detail did him great credit, I received many telephone calls from him to ensure that all the detail was handled, it was very reassuring to know that we had someone to manage the funeral who was so intent on it going smoothly and fittingly, and on providing excellent customer service.
As just a single example of the service provided, my father's funeral had involved many of the pall-bearers being young lads who appeared to be learning the trade, I requested of Malcolm that this would not be the case for my mother. I well remember the indignant look he gave me as he assured me that all of his staff are experienced and suitable to their roles - he was true to his word, the drivers/pall-bearers were experienced men who treated the funeral with the gravity it deserved as well as providing support to family members.
It is now a great comfort for me to know that everything from the preparation of my mother's body, the coffin, flowers, transport, church service and burial were managed by Malcolm to the family specifications with such professionalism, thereby giving my mother the funeral she deserved.

When my Dad passed away suddenly I had no idea which Funeral Director to use. My Daughter in law recommended Whittaker - Wood as she had used him six years previously and had been very Satisfied. I read all the Favourable Customer Testimonials so contacted Malcolm, as he is known to his customers. From my first meeting with Malcolm I was immediately put at ease by his caring, compassionate manner, his attention to detail is unsurpassable, nothing is too much trouble, he explains everything in detail, I knew instantly that he was the right person to take care of my late Dad, He is so Professional with just the right amount of Humour to lift a very sad occasion. The chapel of rest is a Beautiful, Peaceful Place and Malcolm didn't mind how long I spent talking to my Dad. The Funeral was perfect and dealt with such Sentiment and Compassion. Thank you Malcolm for being my Friend. I Would Definitely Recommend Whittaker- Wood to Anyone who wants an Independent Funeral Director with Comfort, Compassion and the Personal Touch....

With the first telephone contact I felt reassured that Mr Whittaker or Malcolm (as he introduced himself) would help me to organise my Brother's Funeral. Before my experience of the loss and arrangements for my Dad , my view had always been quite ignorant in relation to the whole process.
Whitaker and Wood changed that! All of my worries and fears of a complicated process, literally vanished. I felt so comforted by the caring and genuine nature of Malcolm who showed compassion and comfort from collecting my father from Blackpool Victoria and then making looking at peace in the chapel of rest . . No words can express how grateful i will always be . I need to express the importance of anyone going through this experience having need to know that they turn what is the worse time (death of a loved one) into a remarkable journey. It takes very special people to be able to carry out with dignity and honour this very personable service.

I chose Whittaker-Wood Funeral Directors Because I knew they had a good reputation. Mr. Whittaker, or Malcolm as he is known was Compassionate and Caring with a good sense of humour. He took all of the Stress out of this Sad time for us. He was Professional, Kind and Genuine. At the end of it all he felt like a Family Friend. There was no trouble in him having to go out of his local area, he Couldn`t do enough for us. I would not Think Twice about using Whittaker-Wood Funeral Services Again. They made a very Sorrowful Time as lovely as it possibly could be....

I chose some unusual music for the crematoria of which was a favourite of my Dads and Malcolm pulled

I would just like to thank everyone at Whitttaker-Wood, and especially Malcolm, for their superb care, attention, empathy and some humour which always helps, when helping me prepare and carry out the two funerals I have had to arrange. I, very sadly, lost both my husband Mike, and my mother Anne within two months of each other. Mike's funeral, as a retired head teacher, was a very large affair with ex-pupils, staff, governors, friends and relatives attending. Malcolm and his team took this all in their stride and helped make a difficult day bearable with their calm efficiency.
My mother's funeral was a smaller family and friends event, as she was 93 when she died, but was treated with equal efficiency and compassion.
I cannot recommend Malcolm and his team highly enough and would like to thank them again in this public forum for their kindness.

There Funeral Directors especially Malcolm, Was Very Kind, caring, and couldn't do enough for me during my sad loss of my lovely husband I don't know what I would have done without him defiantly went the extra mile, would recommend them to anybody.
