Bereavement is the toughest thing and the last thing you need is to feel that the funeral is a problem rather than a solution. The thing that struck me was that too many funeral director's websites were vague on cost. Money is not the most important thing in this situation but it is not pleasant to feel that this vagueness was in place to exploit your grief. Too many websites gave no indication of fees ( disbursements ) and invited you in for a ' chat '. At this point, after half an hour, it becomes clear the bill will be between £3000 - £4000. Had this been stated on the website it would have saved you time.
It was the honest approach of pearson's that appealed to me. The costs were there on the internet in black and white. They offer just as good a service as anyone else for between £1200 to £2000 less. The information on the website puts you in control of the funeral. But it's not just the money we saved it is the feeling that we were putting our Mum to rest with the help of a company that was honest and down to earth.
Mum's funeral was a dignified and professional occasion; everything from the hearse , the staff from pearsons, the limousine, the flowers and, importantly, the respect and care shown to us and my mum.
Of course there is no ' review ' website for funeral directors, it would not be in good taste. if there were you would be reading more good recommendations than mine. I hope this helps you to make your choice.
Did you know? The funeral directors register was founded in August of 2012, that is 12 whole years! We like to think of ourselves as the first, comprehensive, funeral director reviewing platform in the United Kingdom.
