Overpriced

Adam and Greenwood do "natural" burials and own a woodland burial site as well as conducting and arranging funerals and burials.
We were charged £290 for the collection of a parent's body from a care home. The full and final cost was going to be nearly £6000, which, to be fair, did also include another plot for our other parent at some future time.
Nevertheless, we felt that this was too expensive considering that we weren't asking for anything unusual or expensive, e.g. additional cars, expensive coffin,etc, and nearly twice what the average cost is for a funeral in Essex. Plus, all costs were to be paid in advance, which is not usual.
We decided to go with a different funeral director, who we had used previously. Adam and Greenwood refused to release the body until the collection fee had been paid.
In contrast, the funeral director we did use had charged just £90 for collecting a body, and we still have not received the final bill for a funeral that had taken place about a month previously. They were kind and very professional.
